Life happens. When things change, so should your benefits. That's why certain life events, like marriage, divorce or having a baby allow you to make benefit changes outside the regular annual enrollment period. For example, if you just got married, you may want to add your new spouse. Or, if you've had a baby, you may want to add your child to your benefits coverage.

Qualifying Life Events

Qualifying life events include:

·          Marriage, separation or divorce

·          Birth or adoption of a child

·          Gain or loss of other benefits coverage – by you or your spouse

·          Switch from part-time to full‑time employment

·          Death of a spouse or child

Employees can self-report their life events at sgconnect.southernglazers.com. Select the Benefits Tile, then choose Life Events from the left navigation. If you need assistance or have questions while submitting your life event, contact the SG Connect People Center at 877-392-8383, Option 2 or peoplecenter@sgws.com.

Leaves of Absence

If you get sick, injured or need time off to care for a loved one you have leave options.

Types of leave include Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), Family Medical Leave, and Paid Parental and Adoption Leave.

For more information about leaves of absence, download this brochure.

Additional Information

SGWS provides Short-Term and Long-Term Disability (STD and LTD) benefits at no cost to you. These benefits pay a portion of your income if you become disabled due to an illness or injury.

STD applies to short-term illness or injury lasting less than 11 weeks LTD applies to longer-term illness or injury lasting more than 90 days

Get more information about your STD and LTD benefits in your Annual Enrollment guide on SGNN.

SGWS provides all new parents with 100%-paid leave for up to 6 weeks for childbirth or adoption. You may take this leave continuously or intermittently (minimum two-week increments), but you must complete the leave within one year of the birth of your baby or the placement of a child under age 5 for adoption. To apply, inform your manager 30 days before your leave date. The number of children adopted does not increase the length of leave.

You can take FMLA Leave if you’re unable to work because you:

· Have a serious health condition

· Need to care for a family member (parent, spouse, child) with a serious health condition

· Are bonding with a newborn, adopted child or a child in foster care

· Are a military caregiver

To qualify, you must be a full-time employee or work at least 1,250 hours during the 12 months before the start of your leave. To apply, inform your manager and then file a claim with AbsenceOne.
